A BATTLE FOR FREEDOM

I lost you today. I feel a grieving from the very depths of my soul, the loss of a gift that I have treasured with all of my heart. I am aware of me, and the darkness that surrounds me; there is no world outside. There is no control; nor is there a need for control of the pain that wells up within me at the thought of you. I see no light of day, but then, I cannot see what others do. My thoughts remain locked within the depths of my soul, for that is where I hold my precious memory of you!

I do not want to leave the depths of despair, for you are a part of it. My pain is measured by the greatness of your love; therefore I cannot begin to tell you the measure of the pain I feel.

You were given to this world as a precious gift; you had a purpose on this earth and I say to all, “You have fulfilled it”!  You left a part of yourself in every life you touched, be it in words spoken or deeds done. You are within my every thought; you remain within my heart. Your Purpose was A Great One!!!

Then, in my moments of grief, your memory reaches out to me...

Beyond despair, I hear your courageous cries and within me I know that Your Memory Must Stand for Greatness From Where You Have Fallen! Therefore I will walk for you. I will carry you with me in my heart. I will pick up your light and lift it high. I will find my way through the darkness. I will fight with the strength of your memory... for the Freedom of Our Country.  My feet may not always carry me on the road I must take but I will not be defeated in the fall because I will walk in your footsteps after you. I walk hand in hand with others who grieve, with the conviction in my heart that your life has stood for greatness!

I now know that, alone in my weakness, I can become one of the strong as we who grieve stand united in our belief. Then, when in my heart I look back on your path of life, I will not see where you fell!

... I will see a path of footsteps that has no end!!
