This Way, My Daughter

Gently, ever so gently, you held me in warmth…. your arms around me as I lay close to your heart with your blessed love flowing to me from it. As the years passed your loving hands guided me in the direction you felt would be the easiest for me to walk. You lit a precious pathway that only you could see, and from somewhere deep within your heart you quietly whispered those silent cherished words…

                                                          ”This way, my daughter, this way”.

Gently, ever so gently, as the years passed I gradually let go of your hand. And one day as I held my own child to me, I realized that you had long since changed “your” pathway of life. For as each time I looked back in my life you were always a short distance away! It is only in these later years that I now realize how far the reach must have seemed from your hand to mine! It is only in these later years I realize you made my dreams your own. Your daughter had become a Mother and you brightened yet another precious pathway that only you could truly see, and in your heart you quietly whispered those silent cherished words…

                                                        ”This way, my daughter, this way”.

Lovingly, ever so lovingly, as treasured years passed by I gradually became aware that I had grown into a grace- filled understanding of you. For every step I walked in my journey toward tomorrow, you, My Beautiful Mother, who once led me with the light of your love, now walked beside me as I chose my pathway. And with faith in your heart, you silently prayed…

                                                     “This way, my daughter, this way”.

 And as I sit in quiet precious remembrance and understanding, I wrap my arms around you.... knowing deep within my heart I now have a Beautiful Angel watching over me….  forever lighting each step I take… And I smile when, from somewhere within the quietness of my heart and the very depths of my soul, I hear you once again quietly whisper those silent cherished words…
